5 things at collective_100 you might be under-using as the weather warms up

Whether you have been at collective_100 for five days, five months or five years, there are probably a few things around the building you are not making the most of.

With spring here and summer not far behind, we thought it was time for a seasonal reminder.

From an afternoon iced latte to a change of scenery on the rooftop, here are five simple ways to get a little more out of your workday at collective_100.

1. The free iced lattes

You do not always need to leave the building for your afternoon coffee fix.

There is ice in the Level 2 fridge, and everything you need to make a simple iced latte is already here.

Grab two cups, pull an espresso into one, fill the other about three-quarters full with ice and top it with cold milk. Pour the espresso over the top and you are good to go.

It is refreshing, free and particularly welcome when the Melbourne afternoon starts to heat up.

Our summer office coffee tip: make one before you reach the point where you are seriously considering a $10 coffee run.

2. Our openable windows

Fresh air is an underrated workplace amenity.

One of the things we love about collective_100 is that our windows actually open. That includes windows in some of our offices and in the kitchens, giving you the option to let some fresh air through the building when the weather is right.

On a beautiful Melbourne day, opening a window can make a surprisingly big difference to the feel of your workspace.

Not sure whether your office window opens, or how to use it? Come and find us. We are happy to show you.

3. The rooftop

You do not always need to book a meeting room to get a change of scenery.

Our rooftop is available to members, with Wi-Fi, fresh air and plenty of space to step away from your usual desk for a while.

Take your laptop upstairs on a sunny afternoon, make a phone call in the sun, or move your weekly one-on-one somewhere a little less predictable.

Sometimes a change of surroundings is all you need to break up the workday.

And when the weather is particularly good, it is also a great place to grab lunch, have a coffee or simply spend ten minutes outside before getting back to it.

4. The Royal Botanic Gardens are closer than you think

With the weather warming up, there is a lot to be said for actually leaving the building at lunchtime.

The Royal Botanic Gardens are only a short trip from Cremorne, making them an easy option when you want to get some fresh air, sunshine and steps into your day.

Grab something to eat on the way, take a walk, find a patch of sun and come back to your desk feeling a little more human.

You do not need to turn every lunch break into a productivity hack. Sometimes a walk is just a walk. But it is a pretty good one.

5. Bike storage in the garage

Warmer mornings tend to make cycling to work a little more appealing.

If you ride to collective_100, there is bike storage available in the garage. Just bring your own lock, and come and see us if you would like access to the bike racks.

It is a small thing, but having somewhere to leave your bike can make cycling into work that little bit easier.

And if you are thinking about swapping the car or train for two wheels as the weather warms up, it is worth knowing the option is there.

Make the most of your workspace this spring

A good coworking space is not just about the desk you sit at.

It is the little things that can make your workday more comfortable: opening a window, taking a call upstairs, making an iced coffee, getting some sunshine at lunch or riding to work instead of driving.

So as Melbourne heads into the warmer months, consider this your reminder to make a little more use of the building, and everything around it.

And if you have been at collective_100 for a while and just realised you have never been up to the rooftop... this is your sign.
